New pathways between Wyong, Australia and Lakeland, Florida
Large scale manufacturing and transportation have felt the enormous impacts of COVID-19. International export has been significantly affected over the last 18 months at a time where supply trends and markets are extremely vulnerable to ongoing global disruptions.
4id Solutions, located in Wyong, Australia are one of many manufacturing companies who have faced turbulent times, with unexpected obstacles thrown at us as the pandemic unfolded.
Our global reputation has been built on our ability to manufacture and dispatch international orders to the USA, where supply is faster coming from Australia than local suppliers in the USA.
Meeting delivery targets has never been an issue for 4id Solutions, however, when the airlines started to reduce and cancel outbound international flight schedules and increase air freight rates, we soon realised this was no longer a viable freight option.
This resulted in seeking other pathways to fulfil our dispatch requirements and a switch to sea freight was soon made available. Thanks to the team at Mainfreight, 4id Solutions was able to pivot to a sea freight system and a solid partnership was formed to jointly manage the dispatch process.
“When faced with the cost of airfreight increasing fivefold, we had no choice but to seek other freight opportunities. Thanks to our friends at Mainfreight who assisted us in setting up and maintaining a reliable sea freight option” - Wayne Oldham, 4id Solutions Technology Manager
While the transition to sea freight has been successful, it was not without its challenges. However, Mainfreight were agile in their ability to offer us alternative loading, trans-shipping and offloading options to provide the shortest possible transit time given the ongoing worldwide congestion.
4id Solutions are hopeful that with the opening of borders we can resume airfreight operations as well as sea freight with our Mainfreight partners to meet the needs of our international clients.
